Pubdate:2022-01-06

On the afternoon of December 25, 2021, the "2nd Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Smart Maternal and Child Health Theme Forum," guided by the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology and hosted by the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society with the Smart Maternal and Child Health Branch as the undertaker, was grandly held in Chengdu. The forum invited experts and scholars from various interdisciplinary fields such as biomedicine, environmental health, internet medical care, medical information, and artificial intelligence to give keynote speeches and discuss the construction of smart maternal and child health services.

At the beginning of the meeting, Liu Hanmin, Dean of West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University and doctoral supervisor, delivered an online speech for the conference. In his speech, Dean Liu expressed his hope that under the leadership of the Smart Maternal and Child Health Branch, the integration of maternal and child health with related disciplines would be promoted, providing technical support for the maternal and child health area in the new era and promoting the continuous improvement of women and children's health levels.

The first half of the meeting was presided over by Wu Ying, Director of the Science and Education Department of Chengdu Women and Children's Central Hospital.

First, Professor Chen Yu from the School of Environmental Engineering/Biomedical Engineering of Sichuan University, gave a keynote speech titled "Developing the Value of Clinical Data: Exploring Clinical Efficacy and Mechanisms." Professor Chen used numerical models to simulate the mechanism of uterine bleeding and listed common diseases during pregnancy such as pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, and intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, using machine learning methods such as random forest, logistic regression, and decision trees for disease prediction to explore clinical efficacy and corresponding mechanisms.

Then, Dr. Qiu Yang from the School of Architecture and Environment of Sichuan University gave a keynote speech titled "Application of Interdisciplinary Cooperation in Sichuan Environmental Health Research." Dr. Qiu Yang introduced the background and ideas of environmental health research in detail and revealed the application of environmental big data through two examples: one is air pollution exposure and reproductive health, and the other is pollution, green plants, and infant autism. The future research from environmental epidemiology to mechanism research has certain foresight and predictability, which can provide a basis for policy-making.

The third speaker was Associate Professor Zhan Yu from the School of Architecture and Environment of Sichuan University, who has long been engaged in basic and applied research in the field of environmental informatics. He shared the topic "Atmospheric Environment and Public Health - From the Perspective of Environmental Informatics." Associate Professor Zhan Yu discussed the relationship between the atmospheric environment and public health from the perspective of environmental informatics, combining environmental spatiotemporal distribution prediction with health statistical surveys to assess the health effects of environmental exposure factors, identifying harmful environmental factors causing health abnormalities, and exploring disease etiology. In addition, it was mentioned that further research on the relationship between the size of population exposure doses and the frequency of specific effects in the population can be conducted.

The fourth speaker was Associate Professor Lv Xuebin from the School of Computer Science of Sichuan University, who also serves as Deputy General Manager and Product Director of Sichuan University Zhisheng Software Co., Ltd. He mainly engages in technical research in related fields such as image and video processing, machine vision, and artificial intelligence. He gave a report titled "Research and Application of 3D Machine Vision Technology in the Medical Industry." Associate Professor Lv Xuebin first introduced the concept of 3D machine vision technology and its typical applications in precision medicine, such as 3D scanners assisting in medical repair surgery, digital manufacturing of customized rehabilitation aids, 3D scanners assisting in medical diagnosis, intelligent assisted treatment products, and auxiliary cosmetic minimally invasive preoperative and postoperative assessment and analysis, based on 3D face recognition technology for patient identity verification, etc. Then he proposed the 3D machine vision solution of Sichuan University Zhisheng and finally presented the application case in West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University. In the future, precise medical collaborative innovation research can be realized based on 3D digital intelligent technology, and the construction of smart hospitals can be explored under the "fusion innovation" model.

The fifth speaker was Professor Feng Shipin, Director of the Pediatric Nephrology Department of Chengdu Women and Children's Central Hospital, who has been engaged in pediatric clinical work for more than 30 years, mainly focusing on pediatric kidney diseases, and has rich clinical experience in common and frequent diseases in children, especially in pediatric renal biopsy technology and pediatric hemofiltration technology. With the topic of "Internet + Medical," he combined the rich theoretical knowledge of Internet + and specific cases of clinical medical practice in the hospital to share, fully reflecting the convenience and efficiency of the Internet application for medical staff and patients.

The second half of the meeting was presided over by Wang Xudong, Assistant Dean and Director of the Office of West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University.

Deputy Director and Deputy Chief Pharmacist Deng Yi from the Pharmacy Department of Chengdu Women and Children's Central Hospital gave a keynote speech titled "Information Construction Promotes High-Quality Development of Pharmacy." Through the development and application of the prescription review system, he achieved pre-management, on-the-spot viewing, and post-analysis to improve the efficiency of pharmacist prescription review and enhance the safety of medication use.

Senior Engineer Xiang Mingfei, Director of the Big Data Medical Record Department of Sichuan Cancer Hospital, gave a keynote speech titled "Discussion on the Information System Model Based on Improving the Compliance of Doctor-Patient Communication." By applying modern technological means, he established an information system model to analyze how to improve the efficiency of doctor-patient communication, using objective data for analysis to make the results more scientific and persuasive.

Deputy Chief Physician Chen Jiao from the Ultrasound Department of West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University shared "Fetal Cardiac Ultrasound and Artificial Intelligence." In the sharing, it was mentioned that the application of AI technology in the diagnosis of congenital heart disease in fetuses has brought convenience to the work of ultrasound physicians in aspects such as ultrasound image recognition, intelligent screening model construction, and fetal cardiac function assessment, providing necessary means for the "early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment" of congenital heart disease in fetuses. However, there are still some technical and application challenges in the use of AI technology in the field of ultrasound, and the classification, staging, and prognosis evaluation of fetal heart diseases will be the future development direction.

Subsequently, Minister Wu Tianzhi of the Informationization Department of Sichuan Provincial Maternity and Child Health Hospital shared the theme "Coding Consultation, New Access Control System Aids Epidemic Prevention and Control." In the sharing, it was mentioned that by constructing the electronic accompaniment certificate management information system, the various information systems of the hospital were interconnected to achieve deep integration between information systems, achieving integrated management of medical staff, patients, and accompaniment control, thereby improving the efficient and intelligent epidemic prevention and control of the hospital.

Finally, Director and Chief Nurse Huang Yan from the Nursing Department of West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University made an online report on "Smart Nursing." Through the application of various intelligent systems, she improved the shortcomings of traditional nursing methods and improved the efficiency of nursing work.
