【Society News】The 8th International Summit on Translational Medical Informatics and the 1st Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Youth Forum Successfully Held
On December 25, 2021, the "1st Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Youth Forum," guided by the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology and hosted by the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, was grandly held in Chengdu. The theme of this forum was the development of algorithms for single-cell sequencing technology and their clinical research applications, attracting participants from both within and outside the province, including bioinformatics and clinical researchers, as well as experts and scholars. The forum invited three speakers focused on algorithm development: Professor Xie Dan from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Professor Cun Yupeng from Chongqing Medical University, and Professor Fan ShiCai from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, along with three speakers related to clinical research: Professor Wang Zhoufeng, Professor Luo Han from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Professor Zhao KeYan from Chengdu Qien Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
Professor Huang Jian, Director of the Information Biology Center at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Deputy Dean of the School of Life Science and Technology, affirmed the preparatory work for the inaugural Youth Forum at the beginning of the conference. He stated that young scientists are the main force of innovative research, and the establishment of the Youth Forum will build a communication platform among young scientists, contributing to the development of China's scientific and technological endeavors. The forum was presided over by Professor Cao Bangrong from Sichuan Cancer Hospital and Dr. Luo Huaichao.
The Sichuan Bioinformatics Society's 1st Youth Forum concluded successfully amidst the enthusiastic discussions of the experts. The forum, supported by data science and information technology, built a platform for the exchange and integration of clinical scientists, basic life science researchers, and bioinformaticians. It raised scientific questions from multiple perspectives in various aspects of clinical research and life science studies, broadened academic horizons, stimulated intellectual collisions, and clarified the direction for young scientists' research.
