On October 25th, Academician Chen Shiqing, a member of the United States National Academy of Engineering and a supercomputer expert, was invited by the Disease System Genetics Research Institute of West China Hospital and the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society to give a lecture at the Frontier Science Center for Molecular Networks of Disease. The lecture was titled "Infrastructure Construction and Hospital Application of Brain Science + AI + Intelligent Supercomputing."

    Chen Shiqing has developed the world's first scientific parallel vector supercomputer, large enterprise server systems using general-purpose CPUs, the first 128-blade supercomputer, the world's first internet-based, application-to-application, dynamically cost-efficient enterprise collaborative work middleware, and the first computer grid information network based on supercomputers and globally interconnected.

    In the lecture, Academician Chen Shiqing first introduced the construction work of the National Clinical Medical Science Data Center Platform, which is one of China's earliest health cloud computing/big data service platforms. Through the system architecture design, construction, and deployment of the Supercomputing Network Cloud Platform SCP, an interconnected three-tier (county, township, and village) primary medical system has been established, cultivating a large number of doctors who use information tools to serve medical and health services and has been rated as a national health information service platform model pilot.

    Subsequently, Academician Chen Shiqing demonstrated the application scenarios and cases of supercomputing in smart medical care, smart agriculture, and smart education. He showcased the application of supercomputers in diseases such as depression, Alzheimer's, and heart disease, as well as in the cultivation and management of agriculture, and introduced the construction work of the Intelligent Research Institute and the Sichuan Provincial Academician (Expert) Workstation.

    After the report, Academician Chen Shiqing had a lively discussion with the teachers present about issues such as the use of the brain in scientific research and gene screening.
