The First Academic Lecture of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society's Series Successfully Held

    To promote innovation and development in medical research and clinical practice, and to enhance the level of scientific research and academic atmosphere, on the afternoon of June 1, 2023, the first academic lecture of the series hosted by the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society and organized by the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Youth Committee (in preparation) officially commenced at the Disease System Genetics Research Institute of West China Hospital. The lecture featured Associate Professor Li Sheyu, an expert in evidence-based medicine, who shared his experiences with the topic "Experience Sharing on Publishing in Top Journals." The lecture was conducted in a hybrid format, both online and offline, attracting approximately 130 participants to learn and exchange ideas together.

    The lecture was presided over by Professor Shen Bairong, President of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society and of West China Hospital, Sichuan University.

    Starting from the perspective of evidence-based medicine, Associate Professor Li Sheyu explained and shared the ecosystem of evidence-based medical evidence with the attending experts and students, and introduced the development history of evidence-based medicine in China.

    During the lecture, Associate Professor Li Sheyu, using published literature from top journals, provided a comprehensive and in-depth analysis and explanation of evidence-based medicine. He pointed out that evidence-based medicine is a method that makes the best clinical decisions based on the current best clinical evidence, supplemented by clinical experience and patient values, combined with personalized optimization by medical staff.

    At the same time, Associate Professor Li Sheyu also introduced the development history of evidence-based medicine in China, from the previous trend of Western learning spreading to the East, to the current flourishing development of evidence-based medical research in China.

    The entire lecture was lively and humorous. Associate Professor Li Sheyu explained to the audience in a way that was easy to understand, which benefited everyone greatly. After the lecture, the audience was still eager for more and raised their own thoughts, engaging in face-to-face discussions and Q&A sessions with Associate Professor Li Sheyu.
