On May 30th of this year, marking the eighth "National Science and Technology Workers' Day," to thoroughly implement the General Secretary's important discussions on vigorously promoting the spirit of scientists and to pay tribute to science and technology workers, the Party Branch of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society organized a themed event on June 11, 2024, titled "Exploring the Summit of the Plateau, Inheriting the Spirit of Scientists." The event involved a visit to the National Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Scientist Spirit Education Base located at Southwest Minzu University. At 10 a.m., members of the Party Branch arrived at Southwest Minzu University on time. They were warmly received by Ze Rongzu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Grassland Resources, Liu Yuan, Dean of the College of Grassland Resources and Director of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Scientist Spirit Education Base, Yang Lixue, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Grassland Resources, and Zhu Jiangjiang, Vice Dean of the College of Grassland Resources.

   Dean Liu Yuan introduced the overall situation of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Scientist Education Base, led everyone to watch promotional videos, and visited various scientific research platforms and research groups. In her introduction, Dean Liu emphasized the importance and mission of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Scientist Education Base. She mentioned that the base, selected as one of the National Scientist Spirit Education Bases, is one of the seven bases selected in the second batch in Sichuan Province, one of the two bases selected in Sichuan's colleges and universities, and the only one affiliated with the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. The establishment of the base aims to cultivate more scientists of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and provide strong support for the protection and study of the plateau's ecological environment. She introduced the academic atmosphere, research facilities, and professional team of the base to the visitors and highlighted its significant role in the transformation of scientific research results and social services.

   Subsequently, Dean Liu Yuan led everyone to watch a vivid promotional video that showcased the research achievements and practical activities of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Scientist Education Base. The video displayed the scientists' field investigations, research, and protection work in the plateau area, as well as their in-depth study and understanding of the plateau's ecological environment. The visitors learned through the video that the research team of the base has made important breakthroughs in ecology, ethnic medicine, biodiversity, and has actively participated in policy-making and science popularization.

   Finally, everyone visited the various scientific research platforms and research groups of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Scientist Education Base. The visitors personally experienced the research environment and working conditions of the scientists, and learned about their scientific research projects and achievements. During the visit, Dean Liu Yuan and other leaders interacted with the visitors, answered their questions, and encouraged everyone to actively participate in the scientific research and protection of the plateau. Through this visit, members of the Party Branch spoke highly of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Scientist Education Base and gained a deep understanding of the spirit of scientists. They expressed that they would take the base as an example and actively support the scientific research and protection of the plateau, contributing to the promotion of scientific and technological innovation and the construction of ecological civilization.

After the visit, Teacher Zhou Jiaoqiao, the Discipline Inspection Commissioner, led everyone in a Party class study, providing a detailed interpretation of the Party member disciplinary regulations, emphasizing that Party members should abide by Party discipline and regulations, be strict with themselves, and be clean, loyal, and responsible. She pointed out that as the backbone of the Party organization, Party members should always maintain high political sensitivity and self-discipline, and resolutely implement the Party's decisions and policies. In the Party class study, Teacher Zhou Jiaoqiao also combined practical cases to interpret the procedures and principles of Party member discipline in a simple and profound way, making everyone more clear about their responsibilities and obligations as Party members. The Party class study after the visit further strengthened the ideological education and discipline awareness of Party members, providing a solid foundation for the development of the Party's cause.
