On December 5th in the afternoon, the 2020 Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society Biomedical Data Sharing and Information Security Branch was successfully convened in Chengdu, Sichuan. The event was hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, with the support of Alibaba Cloud Computing Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Nuwa Information Technology Co., Ltd., and others, to further implement the "Healthy China 2030" plan and the opinions on promoting the development of "Internet + Medical Health" issued by the State Council and the National Health Commission.

Opening Ceremony and Society Election

At the opening ceremony, Professor Shen Bairong, the chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, delivered a speech emphasizing that the establishment of the branch aims to expand cooperation in various fields under the premise of ensuring data privacy and security. It seeks to collaborate on research for the application of artificial intelligence in clinical and monitoring management, thereby promoting the development of intelligent medical services for the public.

The society then held a voting election, with Professor Shen Bairong elected as the chairman of the Biomedical Data Sharing and Information Security Branch. Six individuals were elected as vice-chairmen, twenty as executive committee members, and fifty-one as members.

Academic Exchange

Following the opening ceremony, the conference entered the expert exchange session. A total of eight experts and scholars from the fields of big data at home and abroad shared their insights. The branch focused on themes such as data sharing security, privacy computing, and the legal and ethical aspects of privacy protection, analyzing the feasibility and prospects of achieving secure and efficient data information sharing in the current social context from multiple perspectives.

Professor Shen Bairong, Executive Dean of the Disease System Genetics Research Institute at West China Hospital, pointed out that the cooperation and sharing of big data will be an important strategic direction for the development of intelligent medicine now and in the future.

Professor Wang Shuang from the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University in the United States spoke on "Privacy Computing Standards and Their Research in Multicenter Medical Big Data Cooperation."

Distinguished Researcher Gong Mengchun from Southern Medical University spoke on "Privacy Protection in the Application of Health Medical Big Data: Theory and Practice."

Vice General Manager Li Li of China Electronics Investment Holding Co., Ltd. spoke on "Invisible but Usable - Innovative Data Services Based on Provincial Health Medical Cloud."

CTO Wu Xiaoli of Wegene spoke on "Attempts of Privacy Computing in Population Genomics Research and Application."
