To thoroughly implement the Healthy China strategy and promote the deep integration of emerging industries such as the Internet+, big data, and artificial intelligence with healthcare, the 2020 Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society Smart Hospital Construction Branch's Inaugural Annual Meeting and Smart Medical New Infrastructure Summit, hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society and co-organized by West China Hospital of Sichuan University, was successfully held on the morning of December 6 in Chengdu, Sichuan.

    Professor Shen Bairong, Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, Teacher Chen Bin, Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, Director Shi Qingke of the Information Center of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and more than 100 experts and scholars from various disciplines including information, big data, and healthcare from hospitals in Chengdu, Mianyang, Deyang, Leshan, Panzhihua, Suining, and other places in Sichuan participated in this meeting. The opening ceremony was presided over by Secretary-General Chen Bin of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society and Director Shi Qingke of the West China Hospital Information Center.

Opening Ceremony and Society Election

    At the opening ceremony, Professor Shen Bairong, Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, delivered a welcome speech, expressing support for the establishment of the Smart Hospital Construction Branch and good wishes for its future. He hopes to promote the construction of smart hospitals through experience sharing, wisdom sharing, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

    The society then held an election, with Director Shi Qingke of the Information Center of West China Hospital of Sichuan University elected as the Chairman of the Smart Hospital Construction Branch, Luo Kai as the Executive Committee Member and Secretary-General, 7 people elected as Vice Chairmen, 36 people as Executive Committee Members, and 44 people as Members.

Summit Forum

    After the opening ceremony, the conference entered the summit forum. With the theme of "Promoting Development, Updating Changes," the forum focused on hot topics such as the development of smart hospital construction, internet medical services, big data, artificial intelligence, and the application of the Internet of Things in hospitals, exploring technological innovations in the field of internet medicine and guiding the continuous development of smart hospitals. Five senior experts from all over the country gave special lectures.

    First, Director Li Yuhong from the Information Management Office of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University shared insights on "The Application of the Internet of Things in the Construction of Smart Hospitals." Next, Director Zhang Jiyang from the Big Data AI Center of Zhongshan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University shared "High-Quality Smart Hospital Construction Driven by Knowledge Management." Following that, Director Cao Xiaojun from the Information Center of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center shared "Practice of Smart Hospital Construction." Then, Director Peng Jianming from the Information Center of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region shared "Design and Practice of Paperless Medical Records." Finally, Director Feng Song from the Information Center of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University shared "Hospital Information Construction with the Goal of 'Smart Xiangya'."

    The five experts' wonderful special reports were widely recognized by the participants.

Closing Ceremony

    At the closing ceremony, Shi Qingke, the Branch Chairman, expressed his gratitude to the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, the teaching experts, and the representatives for their attendance, as well as his outlook for the Smart Hospital Construction Branch. He believes that with the help of information technology and the joint efforts of all peers, the construction of smart hospitals will enter a new stage and serve the people better. Secretary-General Luo Kai stated that the branch will build a platform in the future to promote in-depth exchanges and advance the construction and development of smart hospitals in Sichuan Province.
