On September 4, 2021, the "Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society Smart Pharmacy Service Branch Establishment Conference and First Academic Meeting," hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society and undertaken by the Department of Clinical Pharmacy (Pharmacy) of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, was successfully held at the Tianyi International Hotel in Chengdu. A total of 150 experts and scholars from more than 70 medical institutions inside and outside the province, in the fields of pharmacy, computer science, and medicine, participated in this academic event.

    Professor Shen Bairong, Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, and Professor Zeng Yong, Vice President of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, attended the meeting and delivered speeches, congratulating the establishment of the Smart Pharmacy Service Branch and expressing specific requirements and expectations for the branch's future work.

    At the meeting, through democratic elections by the participants, Director Xu Ting of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy (Pharmacy) of West China Hospital was elected as the Honorary President of the branch; Su Na from the same department was elected as the President of the branch; Director Wang Mi of the Information Department of West China Hospital, Director Long Enwu of the Pharmacy Department of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, Director Ye Yun of the Pharmacy Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, Dean Liu Fu of the School of Pharmacy of North Sichuan Medical College, Secretary Rao Youyi of the Pharmacy Department of Mianyang Central Hospital, Director Zheng Yan of the Pharmacy Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Director He Qin of the Pharmacy Department of the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu, and Director Cheng Kai of the Pharmacy Department of Sichuan Cancer Hospital were elected as Vice Presidents of the branch; Professor Dai Guoyou from the Department of Clinical Pharmacy (Pharmacy) of West China Hospital was elected as the Secretary-General of the branch; Yu Lei and 30 others were elected as Executive Committee members of the branch; Li Peng and 105 others were elected as members of the branch. Professor Shen Bairong, Chairman of the Society, awarded the branch with a plaque and issued appointment letters to the elected Honorary President, President, Vice Presidents, and Secretary-General. President Su Na introduced the branch's preparatory work from aspects such as the background of establishment, purpose, preparation, distribution of member units, and future planning. 

    It was stated that, except for Ya'an and Bazhong, the branch's member units cover medical institutions in all prefecture-level cities and states in the province. The purpose of the branch is "Intelligence, Innovation, Integration, Development - Join Hands to Create Smart Pharmacy Services." The Smart Pharmacy Service Branch will integrate the advantages of multiple disciplines to build an artificial intelligence pharmacy service platform and expand smart pharmacy services.

    In the following academic lecture session, Director Xu Ting of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy (Pharmacy) of West China Hospital served as the Executive Chairman of the conference. Experts and professors from West China Hospital, West China Fourth Hospital of Sichuan University, Wuhan First Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sichuan Cancer Hospital, and Nanchong Central Hospital shared academic insights, providing a splendid academic feast for peers in the pharmaceutical field.

    The establishment of the Smart Pharmacy Service Branch of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society is conducive to uniting and organizing professionals in pharmacy, informatics, computer science, and clinical medicine. By building an academic exchange, training, and cooperation platform for pharmacy based on the "Internet," it can explore the deep integration of hospital pharmacy and informatization under the background of the new era and promote the transformation of hospital pharmacy services.
