    With the implementation of the "Healthy China" strategy and the continuous drive of new technologies, the construction of smart hospitals is accelerating at a rapid pace. On the morning of December 24, 2021, the Smart Hospital Construction Branch Academic Forum of the 2nd Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Academic Conference (hereinafter referred to as the "forum") was successfully held at the Hengda Hotel in Pengshan.

    The forum, themed "Empowering with Wisdom, Guiding the Future," invited industry experts, scholars, heads of medical informatization, representatives of internet medical companies, and other guests to share insights and exchange experiences on hot topics such as medical big data, artificial intelligence, and the path to smart hospital construction, exploring how to use information technology innovation to empower the sustainable development of smart hospitals.


    The forum featured an address by Shi Qingke, Director of the Information Center at West China Hospital of Sichuan University and President of the Smart Hospital Construction Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society. After expressing welcome and gratitude to the attendees, Director Shi introduced the impact of new technologies on medical informatization, the promotion by various departments, the optimization of medical institution resources, and the innovation of medical service models. He emphasized the role of informatization practitioners in the field of healthcare in aiding the development of smart hospitals with more systematic, comprehensive, and in-depth knowledge. He also set higher standards for the smart medical industry, calling for more innovative and complete system technologies and product solutions, which will be a new challenge faced by the entire medical sector.

    Smart hospital construction has entered its best era, with policy support and active promotion by various medical institutions, leading to certain practical experiences and phased achievements. Practitioners in medical informatization summarized and shared their experiences and insights at the forum.

    Wang Mi, Head of the Data Statistics and Analysis Center at West China Hospital, Lei Shundong, CIO of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, Jin Feng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Leshan People's Hospital, and Shuai Bingxing, Deputy Head of the Medical Quality Control Office of the Medical Affairs Department at West China Hospital, elaborated on various aspects of information technology development empowering smart hospital construction, including big data, smart hospital construction practices, paperless medical records, and information technology aiding medical quality management.

    The construction of smart hospitals is inseparable from technological innovation. The pace of hospital informatization has significantly increased, with technological innovation becoming a consensus for driving smart medical innovation.

    Jiang Songyi, Director of the Solution Center at Huimei Technology, and Sun Dan, Director of the Medical Big Data Intelligence Business Group at SenseTime Technology, shared advanced technology applications in the medical field, such as innovative applications of CDSS to promote high-quality hospital development and innovative uses of artificial intelligence in medicine.

    Empower with wisdom, guide the future; the smart hospitals of the future will be different from what we see today. In a gradually decentralized medical service system, smart hospitals will focus on core services and connect flexibly and efficiently with other medical institutions. Medical staff empowered by digitalization will provide higher quality diagnosis and treatment, better medical experiences, and continuously drive innovation in medical services.
