【Society News】The Inaugural Meeting and First Academic Forum of the Smart Agriculture Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Held Grandly in Chengdu

    On December 26, 2021, guided by the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology and hosted by the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, the "Inaugural Meeting and First Academic Forum of the Smart Agriculture Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society" was held with great ceremony in Chengdu. Experts, scholars, and enterprises from various fields such as basic agricultural research, breeding, cultivation, phenotyping, and digital agriculture both inside and outside the province participated in this grand event.

    At the establishment meeting, Comrade Zeng Zixian from Sichuan Normal University was elected as the President of the Smart Agriculture Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society. Six comrades, Wang Si, Zhu Bo, Zhou Jianping, Hu Jianjun, Kang Houyang, and Fan Xiaoli, were elected as Vice Presidents, and Comrade Zeng Deying was appointed as Secretary-General. Comrade Chen Bin, Secretary-General of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, officially presented the plaque to the Smart Agriculture Branch.

    Leaders and experts including Huang Jian, Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, attended the meeting. In his speech, Comrade Huang Jian expressed his hope that under the leadership of the Smart Agriculture Branch, the integration of related agricultural disciplines will be promoted, and the high-quality development of agriculture in Sichuan Province will be advanced.

    The first academic forum of the Smart Agriculture Branch revolved around three dimensions: agricultural research, agricultural production, and agricultural economy, covering the entire agricultural industry chain. It conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on how to "intelligentize" each link of agricultural production, providing the participants with a splendid academic feast and receiving unanimous praise.


    The Inaugural Meeting and First Academic Forum of the Smart Agriculture Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society concluded successfully amidst the enthusiastic discussions of the experts. The forum, supported by data science and information technology, built a platform for the exchange and integration of agricultural basic research, agricultural bio-breeding, crop cultivation and breeding, agricultural machinery automation, and related enterprises. It raised scientific issues from multiple perspectives in various links of agricultural production, broadened academic horizons, stimulated intellectual collisions, and pointed the way for the development of smart agriculture.
