【Society News】The 3rd Academic Exchange Meeting of the Men's Health Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Successfully Held

    In the beautiful month of April, from April 14th to 15th, 2023, the 3rd Academic Exchange Meeting of the Men's Health Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society was held as scheduled in the picturesque Chengdu Medical City, Wenjiang.

    The meeting aimed to implement the "Healthy China 2030 Outline" by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, actively practice the action of "Caring for Men's Health and Building Harmonious Families," popularize knowledge about men's health, promote the construction of key specialties in male diseases, build a professional academic exchange platform both inside and outside the province, and promote the advancement of male health diagnosis and treatment technology to grassroots medical institutions.

    **Shen Bairong**, the chairman of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, **Qiu Mingxing**, the honorary president of the Men's Health Branch, **Feng Qiang**, the president of the Men's Health Branch and from Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences & Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, along with over a hundred experts and scholars from inside and outside the province, attended the conference.

    The meeting commenced with a speech from Chairman Shen Bairong, who expressed that with the continuous in-depth development of artificial intelligence, the relationship between bioinformatics and traditional medicine is becoming increasingly close. He encouraged everyone to focus on basic medical services and to develop further in the fields of bioinformatics and translational medicine. Since its establishment, the Men's Health Branch, under the leadership of President Feng Qiang, has done a lot of foundational work and continuously reached out to the grassroots level, bringing advanced concepts and technologies in male disease diagnosis and treatment. He expressed his belief that with joint efforts, the development of the branch will be even better and wished the conference a complete success.

    Professor Shang Xuejun, the incoming chairman of the Andrology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, also addressed the conference via live connection, affirming the efforts and work the branch has made for the development of andrology. He encouraged everyone to integrate the development of bioinformatics, leverage advanced scientific technologies such as AI, and contribute to the development of andrology in Sichuan and the western region, better serving patients.

    Subsequently, President Feng Qiang of the Men's Health Branch delivered a work report for the previous year.

    The second item on the agenda was the election of new members, standing committee members, and vice presidents of the Men's Health Branch, presided over by Secretary-General Zhang Hui. The candidates were nominated by the branch and approved by the society. The election was conducted through on-site voting over three rounds, with 47 comrades such as Du Long and Yu Rui being elected as members, 7 comrades including Li Guangsen as standing committee members, and 3 comrades including He Bin, Li Yunxiang, and Liu Yangbo as vice presidents. Chairman Shen Bairong, President Feng Qiang, and Vice President Gu Xiaohui issued appointment letters to the newly elected members.

    After a short break, the academic exchange session began with lectures from invited experts, including Professor Yuan Yiming from the Department of Urology, Peking University First Hospital, Professor Wang Jian from the Department of Urology, Nantong Second Hospital, Jiangsu, and Professor Zhao Jun from the Department of Urology, Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University.

    Experts from major hospitals in the province also discussed hot and difficult issues in the development of andrology and urology through lectures and on-site discussions, focusing on cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment technologies, ultrasound diagnosis, medical equipment, new drugs, nutritional support, and surgical advancements in the field. Nursing team members also shared professional insights on new developments in the nursing of andrology and urology.

    The conference concluded with a summary by President Feng Qiang, marking the successful closure of the 3rd Academic Meeting of the Men's Health Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society.
