Healthy China - Starbucks Supports Primary-level Fight Against COVID-19 Program: Standardized Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Respiratory Diseases and Health Science Popularization Capacity Enhancement Activity" Successfully Held at Huayang Community Health Service Center in Chengdu

    In support of the "Healthy China" initiative, a major public welfare project titled "Healthy China - Starbucks Supports Primary-level Fight Against COVID-19 Program: Standardized Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Respiratory Diseases and Health Science Popularization Capacity Enhancement Activity," organized by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, academically supported by the China Primary-level Respiratory Disease Prevention and Treatment Alliance, publicly supported by the Starbucks Foundation, undertaken by the Huayang Community Health Service Center in Sichuan Tianfu New Area, and co-organized by the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, was successfully held on January 5th at the Huayang Community Health Service Center in Chengdu, Sichuan.

    This event featured special guests Professor Sun Yingjie, Director of the Office of the China Primary-level Respiratory Disease Prevention and Treatment Alliance, Professor Su Qiaoli, Deputy Director of the Department of General Practice Medicine at West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Director Peng Lingchao of the Huayang Community Health Service Center in Sichuan Tianfu New Area. The event was conducted through online and offline interactions and was attended by 413 residents.

    Professor Sun Yingjie delivered an online speech, explaining the background and purpose of the event, expressing hope that it would effectively popularize and promote a healthy lifestyle, helping residents to enhance their awareness and ability to prevent and treat chronic respiratory diseases.

    Director Peng Lingchao then addressed the current state of chronic respiratory disease prevention and treatment in China, especially in Sichuan, emphasizing the urgency of action in managing chronic respiratory diseases and committing the Huayang Community Health Service Center to continue its dedication to the prevention and control of respiratory diseases, serving as the "guardian of residents' health."

    During the activity, Professor Su Qiaoli gave a presentation titled "Lifting the Mystique of Chronic Cough for Lung Health," covering what cough is, the advantages and disadvantages of coughing, classification of coughs, and focusing on the prevention and treatment of common chronic cough diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. She also stressed the importance of stable period management for chronic cough and advised residents to receive standardized management of chronic respiratory diseases at primary-level medical institutions.

    The respiratory health management team leaders from the Huayang Community Health Service Center, including Head Nurse Shao Lihui and Physiotherapist Chen Lulu, shared "Correct Use of Common Inhalation Devices," demonstrating the use of five common inhalation devices, including salbutamol aerosol and fluticasone propionate powder for inhalation, and answered residents' questions about medication use.

    At the event, Professor Su Qiaoli, along with Dr. Guo Yun and Dr. Sun Rong from the Huayang Community Health Service Center's respiratory health management team, provided free medical consultations and health advice to residents.

    Through this activity, residents expressed a deeper understanding of chronic respiratory diseases and the importance of stable period management. They hope to have more opportunities to participate in community health science popularization activities.
