On March 13, 2024, under a bright sun, Dr. Zong Hui, Secretary-General and Standing Committee Member of the Youth Committee of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, entered the classroom of Class 4, Grade 1 at Swan Lake Primary School in Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, bringing the children a fascinating "Artificial Intelligence" popular science lecture.
Dr. Zong Hui first attracted the children's attention with an interesting animated video. He explained in a friendly language what artificial intelligence is and how it changes our lives. From smartphones to autonomous driving cars, from smart homes to medical diagnostics, Dr. Zong used vivid examples to show the wide application of artificial intelligence technology.
Next, Dr. Zong Hui demonstrated several simple artificial intelligence interactive devices and applications, such as intelligent robots, voice assistants, and big data video platforms. He invited the children to give examples of artificial intelligence they have seen in life. The children were eager to speak, and the classroom atmosphere was warm.
At the climax of the lecture, Dr. Zong Hui also brought an application experience of artificial intelligence. He proposed a series of interesting questions, invited children to propose keywords themselves, and generated several vivid and interesting bedtime stories through a language large model. He then told the stories to the children through a voice large model and generated artificial intelligence illustrations for the stories based on these keywords. The excited children's voices and laughter were endless.
After the lecture, Dr. Zong Hui also interacted with the children, patiently answering the various questions they raised.
This "Science Popularization Enters Campus" activity not only brought an unforgettable learning experience to the children but also allowed them to feel the charm and fun of science.
