To implement the provincial government's strategic deployment of "accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system of 5+1," and to promote the high-quality development of Sichuan's industrial economy, with the support and guidance of the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and the Provincial Association for Science and Technology, the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society (hereinafter referred to as "the Society") held its first general membership meeting on December 28th. Attending the meeting were Zhou Liping, a member of the Party Group and Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Lin Ge, Director of the Legal Regulations and Approval Department of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, and 304 representatives from universities, research institutes, and enterprises within the province.

    The meeting listened to the work report of the Society's preparatory group. After a vote and deliberation by all members, the "Sichuan Bioinformatics Society Constitution (Draft)" was adopted, and the first council of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society was elected. Professor Shen Bairong from West China Hospital of Sichuan University was elected as the Chairman, Professor Huang Jian from the University of Electronic Science and Technology and General Manager Zhou Zhen of China Electronics Health Cloud were elected as Vice Chairmen, and Dr. Chen Bin from West China Hospital was appointed as the Secretary-General.

    Lin Ge, Director of the Legal Regulations and Approval Department of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, announced the election results of the new leaders of the Society at the resumed general membership meeting and delivered a speech. Director Lin expressed his hope that the new leaders will gather interdisciplinary talents to lead the Society to continuous growth and development, and play an important role in promoting the future medical development of Sichuan Province.

    Shen Bairong, the Chairman of the first council of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, reviewed the development process since the establishment of the Society and mentioned the significant contributions made by experts and scholars represented by Professor Huang Jian at the beginning of the Society's establishment. He stated that the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society will be committed to serving the big health industry and people's livelihood, integrating clinical medicine, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and big data from multiple disciplines to achieve cooperative development. The Society aims to build a bridge for communication and cooperation between members, government, and enterprises, promote multi-party exchanges, realize innovative development, and strive to lead Sichuan to become a frontier area for bioinformatics development in the country. In the work of the coming year, Professor Shen Bairong stated that he will clarify work objectives, focus on strengthening organizational construction, strive to open up a new situation, and lead the scientific and technological workers in the field of bioinformatics in Sichuan to contribute to the development of the discipline in our province.
