On June 26th, the "Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society Grassroots Oncology Branch Establishment Ceremony and Academic Conference," hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society and co-organized by the Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center of Nanchong Central Hospital, was held at the Howard Eastern Garden Hotel in Nanchong City. More than 200 people, including heads of oncology departments and relevant medical staff from 45 grassroots hospitals across the province, attended the meeting.

    Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, Chen Bin, Ren Bin, a level-four investigator of the Nanchong Municipal Health Commission, and Peng Haitao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Nanchong Central Hospital, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. They congratulated the establishment of the branch and put forward specific requirements and hopes for its future work.

    During the meeting, through democratic elections by the participants, Bie Jun, Director of the Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center of Nanchong Central Hospital, was elected as the President of the branch; Liang Bo, Deputy Director of the People's Hospital of Yilong County, was elected as the Vice President-elect; Hu Xin, Deputy Director of the Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center of Nanchong Central Hospital, Liu Jun, Deputy Director of the People's Hospital of Nanjiang County, Tian Yingguo, Director of the Oncology Department of Yuechi County People's Hospital, Wu Songke, Director of the Oncology Department of Cangxi County People's Hospital, and Tan Xiang, Director of the Oncology Department of Anyue County People's Hospital, were elected as Vice Presidents of the branch; Liu Zhenlin, Director of the Oncology Department of Peng'an County People's Hospital, was elected as the Secretary-General of the branch; Wen Shimin and other 50 medical staff were elected as executive committee members; Quan Xinqiang and 150 others were elected as members. Secretary-General Chen Bin presented the plaque to the branch and issued appointment letters to the elected President, Vice President-elect, Vice Presidents, and Secretary-General.

    In the following academic lecture session, Professor Zhou Jin, the head of the medical department of Sichuan Cancer Hospital, Professor Hu Xin from Nanchong Central Hospital, and Professor Lu Haiyan from Chongqing Renji Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Sciences University, shared academic insights on topics such as "Prevention and Management of FN," "New Advances in Targeted Treatment for EGFR Mutation-Positive Lung Cancer," and "Research Progress on Combined Anti-Angiogenic Therapy for Advanced Lung Cancer," providing the audience with a splendid academic feast.

    Professor Bie Jun introduced that tumor diseases seriously endanger the health of the people, and everyone is afraid when talking about cancer. However, we need to face it correctly. With the continuous development of medical science, the means of tumor treatment are also constantly changing, and it has become possible for cancer to become a preventable, controllable, and curable chronic disease. The establishment of the Grassroots Oncology Branch will provide a good platform for academic exchange and cooperation in the field of oncology for grassroots medical institutions across the province, which is conducive to further improving the level of cancer prevention and treatment in grassroots medical institutions and benefiting patients.
