【Innovation Competition News】The "5th Smart Medical Innovation Competition—Sichuan Regional Finals" Successfully Concludes

    On August 6, 2021, the "5th Smart Medical Innovation Competition—Sichuan Regional Finals," initiated by the Mobile Medical Education Department-China Mobile Joint Laboratory and co-hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Sichuan Huaxi Health Technology Co., Ltd., came to a successful end. Sixteen participating teams from across the province, with 25 medical innovation projects, took part in this competition.

    The competition was presided over by Shi Qingke, the director of the Information Center of West China Hospital of Sichuan University. Chen Bin, Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, and leading experts from hospitals across the country who are in charge of information work, served as judges for the Sichuan regional competition.

    The competition was held through online remote review, focusing on themes such as medical and health information management, Internet Plus medical and health, 5G IoT Plus Smart Hospitals, big data and artificial intelligence applications, telemedicine and medical consortiums, and data supervision and governance.

    At the competition site, representatives of the 25 evaluated projects delivered wonderful presentations, sharing the origins, pain points, difficulties, construction processes, innovation highlights, and the significance of the promotion and popularization of their projects. The judging panel scored each participating team based on the comprehensive performance of the project, its significance for popularization, clarity of pain points, feasibility, technological advancement, and innovation.

    After fierce competition, the Sichuan region awarded one first prize, two second prizes, and four third prizes. The top seven teams in the overall rankings will represent the Sichuan region in the "2021 Digital China Innovation Competition Smart Medical Track" and the "5th Smart Medical Innovation Competition" national finals.

    At the end of the competition, Chen Bin, Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Bioinformatics Society, said in his concluding remarks, "The '5th Smart Medical Innovation Competition—Sichuan Regional' has provided a high-quality platform for the exchange and display of smart medical innovation projects in the province. It has further explored outstanding innovative projects in smart medical care in the province, accelerating the dual development of industry and talent. Everyone has a deeper understanding of how to efficiently integrate smart medical innovation technology and medical activities with the real economy. 

    The experienced and unique comments from the expert judges have also given everyone a clearer understanding of the shortcomings of their respective projects and the directions for further improvement. In the future, through the innovative application of various emerging information technologies, the ability of medical institutions to serve patients with intelligence and humanization will continue to be enhanced." In addition, Director Shi Qingke extended his heartfelt congratulations to the winning teams of the competition, hoping that they will continue to strive for excellence and achieve good results in the upcoming national finals to be held in Jinan.
