Donation Activity for Earthquake Disaster Relief

On September 5, 2022, at 12:52 PM, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Luding County in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. The earthquake caused significant damage and affected a wide area, with particularly severe impacts in Luding County and Shimian County, Ya'an City. As of 5:00 PM on September 11, the disaster had claimed the lives of 93 people and left 25 missing. In the face of such a natural disaster, the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, along with its Party branch, responded to the call for support from the Sichuan Department of Science and Technology and the Sichuan Association for Science and Technology, initiating a donation activity for the earthquake relief efforts.

On September 12, in an effort to assist the people in the affected areas to overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes, the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society and its Party branch actively responded to the initiative and issued an urgent donation appeal to Party members, members of the society, and scientific and technological workers to support the "9·5" Luding County earthquake relief.

The donation activity was led by the Party Branch of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society, in conjunction with the society's secretariat, mobilizing a broad range of Party members, members, and scientific and technological workers to extend a helping hand to the people in the disaster area. Following the launch of the donation activity, the leaders of the society set an example, and all participants actively contributed with practical actions to express their care and sincerity.

The donation activity concluded successfully at 4:00 PM on September 13, and all donations were donated to the "9·5" Luding County earthquake-stricken area through the Sichuan Red Cross on September 14. The funds raised will mainly be used to provide comfort to grassroots Party members, cadres, and the public at the forefront of the disaster relief efforts, as well as to assist Party members and the public who are facing difficulties due to the disaster, and to subsidize the repair of grassroots Party member education facilities damaged by the disaster. By uniting and taking practical actions, warmth is delivered. All members of the Sichuan Bioinformatics Society are always concerned about their fellow citizens in the disaster area and will continue to pay attention to the disaster information, standing together with the people in the disaster area through the difficult times. The society will always remember its social responsibility, using its modest strength to light up hope and contribute to the post-disaster reconstruction of the people in the disaster area.
